Rural Road Assessment and Treatment

NRS has worked extensively with the US Forest Service, Bureau of Land Management, private landowners, and counties conducting road sediment source inventory and assessment, fish passage assessment, and road restoration. The NRS staff has inventoried over 3,000 miles of forest road to locate, prioritize, and make treatment recommendations to protect water quality. NRS has over 20 years of experience in implemented road restoration projects from upgrading and storm proofing road systems to full decommissioning. NRS staff has trained federal, county, city, and open space road crews in implementing Best Management Practices (BMPs) to reduce erosion and sediment transport from roads.
