Flier developed by NRS for the first McKay Tract Community Forest Public Meeting.

NRS assisted the County of Humboldt with community outreach and recreation and trail planning expertise for the proposed development of the McKay Tract Community Forest near Cutten and Myrtletown in greater Eureka. The portion of the McKay Tract being planned for a community forest has been aquired from  Green Diamond Resource Company who worked with Trust for Public Land to develop a conservation strategy including selling a portion of the tract west of Ryan Creek to establish a community forest. The creation of such a community forest matches NRS’ values of watershed conservation and expanding opportunities for public access and recreation. NRS will continue to support the County in outreach and developing a management plan to plan for public access, community involvement and sustainable management of the McKay Tract Community Forest.
