Freshwater Road Speed Tables

Project Dates:

Funding Organizations:
Humboldt County Public Works
Cooperating Agencies:
Garfield School, Freshwater Residents

The need for traffic calming along Freshwater Road has long been a concern of community residents and families with children attending Garfield School. Humboldt County Public Works installed radar feedback signs, reduced driving widths, and lowered the school zone speed limit to 15 mph when children are present, thanks to a Countywide ordinance that passed in 2017. In addition, a community meeting was hosted by the County in September 2017 to understand residents' concerns and discuss potential solutions. The community circulated a petition for speed tables in front of and near Garfield School and is currently raising funds for their construction.
