1) Monitoring of sediment movement in the Freshwater Creek and Elk River watershed, 2) assistance to non-corporate landowners to develop compliance plans to help them meet the Total Maximum Daily Load (TMDL) requirements, and 3) fisheries habitat enhancement in Martin Slough (tributary to Elk River).

Innovative strategy to base land use decisionmaking on a new method of watershed assessment data, including a strong component of community participation and compelling GIS maps.

A Northern California Coastal Conservation Needs Assessment, assessing and documenting specific needs for regional strategic coastal (marine and terrestrial) conservation planning and implementation in coastal Mendocino, Humboldt, and Del Norte Counties.

Assessment of the overall health of the Mad River watershed relative to designated beneficial uses of and impairments to those waters; a plan developed with private and public landowners to address water quality impairments and identify watershed-wide restoration priorities.

Martin Slough, a tributary to Swain Slough/ the Elk River, is just south of the city of Eureka. This project's goals include the enhancement of aquatic and riparian habitat, improving fish access to Martin Slough, flood reduction, and improved sediment transport.

Joint effort with the City of Arcata to restore tidal function to McDaniel Slough, create freshwater wetlands for bird and wildlife habitat, and re-establish brackish marsh habitat on diked-former tidelands along the northern edge of Humboldt Bay, adding over 240 acres of habitat to the Arcata Marsh & Wildlife Sanctuary.

Working with the Cities of Arcata, Eureka, Fortuna, and the County of Humboldt to reduce the discharge of pollutants from runoff, sediment sources, and municipal storm drain systems through implementation of stormwater pollution prevention outreach and best management practices (BMPs).

Conducting road assessment and turbdity monitoring above the coastal town of Trinidad and it's bay.

Assessment, implementation plan and implementation phases for restoration of 23 acres of brackish marsh habitat through removal of the Wood Creek tidegate. The conversion of agricultural grasslands to marshland will provide habitat for salmonids, tidewater goby, and other sensitive species and return some tidal function to former Bay lands.
